Laundry Room Must Haves
Built in lockers, Ikat bench cushion, drying rack, Travertine floors, vintage washboards and iron, ornamental granite and oil rubber bronze fixtures round out this fresh and functional laundry room.
A laundry room might seem like the last place you’d want to invest in when in reality it’s one of the first places we start. We all spend more time there than any of us care to and while it is a space that has to maintain it’s utilitarian function it can be beautiful at the same time.
For families with children who lack the space for a separate mud room we like add lockers such as the ones pictured here. It gives each child a place of their own to hang backpacks, put muddy shoes and lunch boxes. Lockers are a wonderful way to keep everyday items organized and in their place. Add an upholstered bench and vintage wash boards and you have given a once bemoaned space a sense of style and design. We also love to add a granite slab on top of the washer and dryer to serve as a folding table. Not only does it give the room instant aesthetic appeal, but is cost effective if you go with a remnant piece from a local granite warehouse or fabricator.
Here are our list of laundry room must haves:
We love this folding laundry rack from Ballard Designs (and use it often!):
A Retro Housekeeper’s box from William Sonoma… because at least you’ll feel a sense of retro cool while scrubbing and mopping
Aiden Gray is a fantastic line and this wire laundry basket is a must have:
And lastly…. The Good Home Co. is one of the best home care product lines around. We especially love their Lavender vacuum beads (yes- seems extravagant but once you try them you will be hooked!) and the Pure Grass Laundry Fragrance. Smells like spring…. and who doesn’t love that!
